Stafford, TX - March 29, 2006 - On March 25, the Libertarian Party held its District Conventions. Delegates chosen at the County Convention participated in electing nominees to appear on the ballot in the November election.

Unlike the primary parties, the Libertarian Party may choose "None of the Above" or NOTA as an alternative to those seeking the nomination. The result of Saturdays polling is an example of exercising that choice.

Of the five races effecting Fort Bend County, two resulted in NOTA votes. Eugene J. Flynn and Isaac Barlow Jr. both failed to achieve a position on the ballot. Phil Kurtz succeeded in capturing the nomination for State Senate, District 17, as did Roy O. Wright II for State Senate, District 18. Bob Smither prevailed over Stan Norred to capture the nomination for U.S. Representative, District 22.

Candidates seeking statewide offices will be nominated at the state convention on June 10 in Houston.
